About Sierra Atelier

Our Story

Sierra Atelier was founded by Maria Carletti, a Colombian
entrepreneur who moved to the United States over a decade ago, carrying with
her a deep appreciation for the culture, traditions, and craftsmanship of her
homeland.

While building a new life in the United States, Maria was fortunate to do
so alongside her husband and daughter, whose unwavering support, encouragement,
and love have been the foundation behind every dream she has pursued. Their
belief in her vision continues to inspire the journey of Sierra Atelier today.

Although she embraced a new chapter abroad, Maria never lost her
connection to Colombia and its extraordinary cultural heritage. She remained
deeply inspired by the beauty, traditions, and artistry of the communities
surrounding Colombia's Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, where ancestral knowledge
continues to be preserved through generations of artisans.

Driven by a desire to share this remarkable heritage beyond Colombia's
borders, she created Sierra Atelier.

Today, Sierra Atelier collaborates with Indigenous Kankuamo and
Arhuaco artisans
, whose weaving traditions, symbolism, and craftsmanship
have been preserved and passed down through generations. From the communities
surrounding Atánquez, Pueblo Bello, and the sacred territory of Nabusímake,
these artisans continue to create extraordinary pieces that honor both their
heritage and their connection to the Sierra Nevada.

Every mochila reflects hours of meticulous handwork, cultural symbolism,
and generations of ancestral knowledge. From the preparation and spinning of
alpaca fibers to weaving, beadwork, finishing, and final detailing, each piece
is the result of dedication, patience, and artistry.

More than accessories, our creations are a tribute to heritage,
craftsmanship, and the human connection between those who create and those who
cherish handmade artistry.

At Sierra Atelier, we believe luxury is not only found in beautiful
design—it is found in authenticity, tradition, and the stories that deserve to
be carried forward.

Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us celebrate the
hands, cultures, and traditions behind every creation.
